LG Optimus G Pro specifications leak online

In late 2012, it appeared that Sony and LG will bow out from the smartphone race. Both the companies were struggling to keep pace with the existing smartphones in the market and it seemed that both these companies had nothing interesting to offer. However, it now seems that these two companies are back in action.

Sony has already announced two interesting smartphones - Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL and there's already buzz around two more smartphones - Sony Xperia SP and Xperia L - which are expected to be in the market soon.

LG on its part had showcased two smartphones at the CES - LG Optimus G and Optimus V2 - at CES. And Korean smartphone maker now seems to be gearing up for the next phase of the challenge.

The company is expected to soon launch the successor of Optimus G, called Optimus G Pro.PhoneArena has managed to get their hands on this smartphones' promo materials along with the renders.

As per the website, LG Optimus G Pro will feature a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS-LCD screen (1080x1920). It is also expected to have a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon with 2GB of RAM. According to PhoneArena, there will be a 13-megaxiel rear camera on board along with 2-megaixel one on the front. The smartphone will support LTE. Other likely features include 3,140 mAh battery, 32GB of internal storage, which will expandable up to 64GB by a microSD card.

A little birdy has also informed PhoneArena that it is likely that Optimus G Pro version for the Korean carrier will be dubbed LG U+.

LG had recently announced LG Optimus G Pro smartphone in Japan in collaboration with NTT DoCoMo. This smartphone has a 5-inch screen with full-HD (1920x1080) display. It comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. There is a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 2.4-megapixel front camera as well. It is likely that this device might be on display at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) along with the world edition that has a 5.5-inch screen.

There are also news reports citing that LG is planning to unveil a new series of devices that may well be announced at the MWC in Barcelona.
