iPhone 5S and low-cost iPhone to come in multiple new colours: Report

The much rumoured low-cost iPhone might come in a number of colours and is expected to go in trial production if a new report is to be believed. According to Apple focused Japanese blog Macotakara (via MacRumors) the new low-cost iPhone will come in multiple colours. The website cites two sources that suggest different colours for the purported budget iPhone. While one source mentions that it would come in Navy, Gold Orange, White, and Grey colours, the second one suggests White, Pink, Green, Blue, and Yellow orange colours. It's interesting to note that none of them mention a Black colour variant. The site also suggests that the iPhone 5S, the next generation iPhone, is also likely to come in multiple colours including Gold and Green. It's not the first time that we're hearing about the budget iPhone coming in multiple colours. In April, Macotakara had reported that the iPhone 5S would come in a number of colours including Black and White, and that the cheap...

Research firm says Apple now biggest US phone seller

The launch of the iPhone 5 and the declining popularity of non-smartphones have made Apple the biggest seller of phones in the U.S. for the first time, research firm Strategy Analytics said Friday. The firm estimates that Apple shipped 17.7 million iPhones of all kinds to U.S. buyers in the October to December period, meaning it accounted for one in three new phones. Samsung Electronics of Korea was close behind, shipping 16.8 million phones, including non-smart ones. Samsung has been the largest seller of phones to the U.S. market since 2008, Strategy Analytics said. NPD Group, another research firm, found that Samsung phones still outsold the iPhone in the quarter, by 31 percent to 29 percent. It tracks retails sales while Strategy Analytics tracks shipments, so the numbers are not directly comparable. Worldwide, it's clear that Samsung is still the biggest phone vendor with 23 percent of the market, according to a third research firm, IDC. Apple is number three, w...

As everybody knows by now, Apple got lost along the way. It was like a 22-car pileup. Timothy Cook, Apple's chief executive, made a quick turn, publicly apologizing, firing the executive responsible and vowing to fix Maps. For a company that prides itself on flawless execution, it was quite a detour. Rumors swirled that Google would create an iPhone app of its own, one that would use its seven-year-old, far more polished database of the world. That was true.Google Maps for the iPhone has arrived. It's free, fast and fantastic. Now, there are two parts to a great maps app. There's the app itself - how it looks, how it works, what the featur...
