HTC One with bigger screen to launch soon: Report

With large screen phones being the current rage, it looks like HTC is also about to ride the bandwagon and launch a big-screen variant of its flagship smartphone, the HTC One. According to a report by Pocket-lint, HTC will be launching a new phone that will have the same specifications as the HTC One, but will sport a bigger screen. It cites sources familiar with the development to report that the screen size of the phone will be above 5.0-inches but below 6.0-inches. The report also talks about the much rumoured mini version of the HTC One, Codenamed, M4, and reiterates that it will sport a 4.3-inch screen. Images of the phone had surfaced online earlier.  It's interesting to note that the HTC Butterfly (Review | Pictures) sports a 5.0-inch HD display and is the only phone from the company that features a large screen, though HTC had shied away from calling it a phablet. Samsung's Galaxy S4, HTC One's rival, also sports a 5.0-inch HD display. The H...

HTC One listed online for Rs. 42,900, but not officially available yet

After more than a month of HTC announcing the launch of its premium flagship HTC One in the Indian market, the phone has been listed on online mobile retailer Saholic's website for Rs.42,900. At the time of writing this post, only the Silver colour variant of the phone is available. The site is also offering a free back cover with the phone.  However, we checked the status of the phone's availability with a HTC representative and got a response that the phone is still not officially available. The representative refused to confirm a date when the HTC One will go on sale in the retail market. It's worth pointing out that the Saholic listing mentions a delivery time of 9 business days, so the listing does't confirm immediate availability. HTC One (Review) features a 4.7-inch screen with 1080p display. It is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2GB of RAM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, Blu...

HTC One's 'downmarket' cousin M4's picture, specs leak

A cheaper version of HTC's critically acclaimed flagship phone, HTC One, has surfaced online. Codenamed, M4, the mid-range variant of the phone follows the same design language that we've seen in the One, although it's not known if it will also use the same materials. It also features two speaker grills on the front and comes with Beats audio.  The images of the phone were brought to public domain by the notorious Evleaks who also informs that the phone would sport a 4.3-inch 720p screen, and will be powered by a dual-core processor, unlike the One's quad-core CPU. It will have 2GB RAM and the same Ultrapixel camera that featured in the HTC One (Review | Pictures). It will house a 1700mAh non-removable battery and offer 16GB of internal memory. The report indicates that the phone will ship towards the end of the second quarter with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.  It's not the first time that the existence of the M4 has been suggested. In February, with the ...

HTC Tuesday announced the launch of its latest flagship smartphone, the HTC One. The specifications and design are pretty much in line with what we'd seen in several leaks over the past few weeks. The HTC One comes with a 4.7-inch full-HD display with 468 pixels per inch packed in an aluminium unibody. It is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor alongside 2GB of RAM. HTC One will come in Grey, Black and Red colours with 32GB and 64GB storage options, but without expandable storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, Infrared (see below) and Micro-USB. HTC One runs a completely overhauled Sense UI atop Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. HTC has done something unique with the HTC One camera, swapping the megapixel race for what it calls the UltraPixel camera. HTC says the One takes photos at 4-megapixels resolution, but claims "the quality of each pixel is substantially higher than the industry average...

HTC teases new device coming "alive soon", likely related to M7 launch

HTC M7 has become one of the most anticipated launches this year, courtesy the innumerable leaks and rumours over the past couple of months. Now the Taiwanese manufacturer has put out a rather bizarre looking teaser that seems to be associated with the device on a German forum. The image released shows a cybernetic heart attached to a mother board circuit as if pumping life into it. The tag line reads as "ALIVE SOON". It isn't quite the conventional way to tease a new device but nevertheless it looks very unique and is certainly grabbing the eyeballs. HTC is expected to host an event in New York on February 19 where we are likely to witness the unveiling of the company's next flagship. The teaser is just a visual offering no textual details. It seems as if we know a lot about the smartphone and yet we know nothing. But the device's existence has been confirmed by CEO Peter Chou who was spotted in a video that was shot at a recent end-of-year...

HTC M4 surfaces online via leaked pictures

After HTC M7, it is now time for its younger sibling M4 to pose in front of the spy cameras. A handful of pictures of HTC M4 have popped online, courtesy Pocket Droid. We have heard rumours regarding HTC planning to launch a mid-range HTC M4 along with HTC G2 even in the past, but this is the first time that pictures of this smartphone have surfaced online. HTC is hosting a simultaneous event in London and New York on February 19. It is likely that the Taiwanese smartphone maker will be launching their next flagship HTC M7 at this event. Grapevine has it that HTC may launch the HTC M4 and G2 at this event or perhaps a later at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013. In these pictures one can clearly see the front, sides and the back of this upcoming smartphone. From these pictures it also appears that HTC M4 is quite similar in looks to M7 and even HTC One X. The past rumours have indicated that HTC M4 will have 4.3-inch screen which supports resolution of 720p, 2GB of RAM...

Move over megapixels, HTC to launch 4.3 'ultrapxiel' camera sensor with M7: Report

HTC is expected to launch its next flagship smartphone M7 at an event on February 19. The device has been in the news for quite some time now. According to Pocket-Lint, HTC M7's camera will ditch megapixels and will have something that the company dubs as "ultrapixels." It was earlier rumoured that M7 will come aboard with a 13-megapixel rear shooter. However, Pocket-Lint claims that this smartphone will feature a camera that will be made up of three 4.3-megapixel sensor layers, which will be combined to give a resulting single image. It is expected that the pictures clicked through this camera would be crisper, cleaner and have a better colour accuracy. This technique is also adopted by Sigma in the Foveon X3 sensor. In 2012, we had seen Nokia experiment with their camera sensor on Nokia 808 PureView smartphone and the result was 41-megapixel monster. It is expected that Nokia will be launching Lumia smartphones with a similar lenssometime this year. ...

10 Upcoming Smartphones 2013

Sony Ericsson Sony Ericsson’s big comeback could come from this Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” phone with a razor-sharp screen, spectacular camera, and the ability to be manipulated by your TV’s remote control. While the company told us it wants to sell this phone here in the U.S, we’ve put it in last place on this list because Sony Ericsson has a lousy track record of getting its phones picked up by U.S. carriers. If it does appear, the Xperia Arc will most likely show up on AT&T. Also notable: Sony Ericsson is expected to debut a “PlayStation phone” next month, though we don’t know whether that’s ever coming to the U.S. We should know more when MWC commences on Feb. 13. HTC 7 Pro (Sprint) Windows Phone 7 will debut on Sprint very,  very soon with this big,  sliding- QWERTY-keyboard model.  Like many other Windows Phone 7 devices,  the 7 Pro has a 1GHz proce...

Other than that, the update is said to bring in a few new features which includes SMS Drafts, Select All (for Mass deletion) and SMS Call Reject.
