BlackBerry Z10 to launch in India on February 25

BlackBerry is all set to launch its flagship smartphone in India on February 25, 2013. The company has already sent out teaser invites for an event at Mumbai.

As per earlier reports BlackBerry was slated to announce this smartphone in India on February 24, 2012 and the indicative pricing for Z10 is being speculated around Rs. 39,000. It is expected that this smartphone will start retailing in India soon after the launch in both black and white colour options.

For consumers, who are still unaware of BlackBerry Z10, it is a full-touch device that comes with a 4.2-inch LCD screen with a 1280x768 resolution. It runs on the new BlackBerry 10 operating system and is powered by a dual-core processor that clocks at 1.5GHz alongside 2GB of RAM. The internal storage available on the smartphone is 16GB. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera that can capture 1080p videos and 2-megapixel camera in the front. Z10 comes with 1,850 mAh battery.

The BlackBerry Z10 smartphones is already available in UK and Canada and has received a good response in these markets. The company is slated to launch a QWERTY smartphones based on BlackBerry 10, called BlackBerry Q10 by March 2013.

Overall, it is expected that there will be a total of six BlackBerry 10 smartphones available in the market before the end of the year. However some reports suggest that the company will not launch any entry level BlackBerry 10 smartphones in 2013.

As mentioned, the grapevine has pegged the pricing for the BlackBerry Z10 to be around Rs. 39,000 but we believe that in order to be competitive in the Indian market, it will make sense if the company will price the device closer to Rs. 35,000. At this price, BlackBerry smartphone will be price competitively to Nokia Lumia 920 (which is available at a best price of Rs. 36,000), HTC One X+ (retailing for Rs. 38,500) and the Samsung Galaxy Note II, which after the recent price cut is available for Rs. 34,990.
