Just a day after Samsung’s big launch, Sony has unveiled its latest flagship phone in India. As its name suggests, the Xperia Z1 is a successor to the original Xperia Z. Like most of Sony’s high-end offerings, this phone is dust and water resistant. Provided that all ports and covers are firmly closed, it can be kept under 1.50 metres of water for up to 30 minutes. The Xperia Z1 comes with 5-inch full-HD TFT LCD display with 1920x1080 pixels. The display enhancements involve Sony’s Bravia and Triluminos technology. However, the screen type is basic TFT LCD. We would have loved to see an AMOLED or IPS panel on this one. Going by the numbers, the Xperia Z1 has to be the fastest phone available in India. It’s powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The Xperia Z1 comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, that can be expanded by up to 64GB via a microSD card.
