The Sony Xperia A smartphone has been officially announced by Japanese carrier NTT Docomo as part of its Summer 2013 collection. The phone is similar to the Xperia ZR which was announced a few days back and is water and dust resistant with an IP55/ IP58 rating. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The phone has a 4.6-inches HD reality display sporting a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. Powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor, the Xperia A has 2GB of RAM and internal storage of 32GB expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. The Xperia ZR on the other hand offers internal storage of 8GB. The Xperia A sports a 13-megapixel fast-capture camera with Exmor RS with auto-focus and a VGA front facing camera. S ony's entry-level smartphones, Xperia E and Xperia E dual, are now available for purchase online. The phones were listed online across e-commerce websites for pre-orders including on Infibeam and Flipkart. In line with the pre-order price, the Xperia E has been listed on Infibeam at a price point of Rs. 9,999 and is available in Black, Pink and White colours, while the Xperia Z Dual has been listed at Rs. 10,990 and is available in Black and Champagne colours. The company is also offering a pair of Sony Headphones (MDR-ZX100A) worth Rs. 1,490, with both the phones. Sony has started rolling out Jelly Bean update for its Xperia J smartphone. Sony users from around the world, including India, are reporting getting this update. The update will be rolled out over-the-air (OTA) and bears the build number 11.2.A.0.21. However, in case you do not get a notification, then you can also connect the smartphone to PC and update via PC Companion Software and Sony Update Service tool. The update should come as a pleasant surprise to Xperia J users as Sony had originally shared that Sony Xperia P, Sony Xperia J, Sony Xperia go will receive the Android 4.1 upgrade "from the end of March". In line with what we reported last month, it's now confirmed that Sony will be making a major announcement related to its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z, on 6 March 2013. The company has updated its Facebook cover picture teasing the Xperia Z with the 06/03/13 date in bold and an 'Everything is about to change' tagline. A Sony spokesperson also confirmed that the phone is indeed launching on 6 March. At the time of writing this post, the page also posted another picture that with a hazy side profile image of the phone along with a '2 Days to go' teaser text. S ony had announced its latest flagship smartphones Sony Xpera Z and Xperia ZL at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013. At the time of launch, Sony had indicated that these devices will be making its way to the market soon and as per report on Xperia Blog, Sony Xperia Z (SO-02E) is already available in Japan for 80,430 Yen sans contract. The device is available through the operator NTT DoCoMo. Xperia Blog also indicates that the smartphone is selling like hot cakes and only the ones who had pre-booked it may manage to get it on Monday. The others will have to wait a bit to get their hands on Sony Xperia Z. If reports in GSM Arena are to be believed then this smartphone should be available in Europe by the end of February. There are rumours doing the rounds this smartphone will cost 529 pounds without contract.
