LG Optimus Vu P895 Review

Optimus Vu is the latest smartphone from LG which is placed in the Phablet segment. With a good hardware and unusual design, this one is priced around Rs.30, 000.

It took almost nine months for LG to launch Vu in India after its international announcement, which made things a lot easier for its competitors to grab the most of the market share. Though this phablet is power packed, buta late entry may affect the phone`s popularity amongst the customers.

LG Optimus VuP895 features an unusual 4:3 aspect ratiowhich might stand on a difficult side for few people to hold this handset. However, the interiors of this phablet are impressive, which could help this one from LG to gain the acceptance which it maydeserve.

Design And Feel

lFront of LG Optimus Vu is purely dedicated to a HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with16M colors. It has a bright and large display stretched 5.0 inches across with XGA resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels; enabled with multi-touch options. With a dimension of 139.6 x 90.4 x 8.5 mm,it is indeed a slim looking device.
Right side has the volume rocker and left has the SIM slot. On the top you can see a slot for 3.5mm jack, a dedicated key which converts the display into a note pad and a shutter is also there which can open whenever you need to charge the device or want to connect to a PC.
Weighing 168g, this light weight phablet has a textured matte fished back. This3G handset sports an 8 MP camera at the back with digital zoom of 8x, autofocus & LED flash and also a front camera of 1.3 MP. It comes with LG Rubberdium stylus, which works fine with the device.

HardwareandPerformance:
Powered by 1.5GHz Quad-core processor, this phabletruns on Android ICS 4.0.4 operating system.Loaded with 2080 mAh Li-Ion battery, the phone provides a good talk time to the users but with a screen size like this you`ll have to keep the charger close enough. Besides, it is backed by a powerful chipset of XMM6260 AP33 chipset, which makes the user experience a lot smoother and faster.

Optimus Vu is aNFC enabled phablet. It comes with three NFC tags which can be configured with settings according to once needs and placed at various places as required. You just need to tap the phone to these tags and with a single tap the phone adjusts to those settings.

On the memory front, you will be pleased to find 32GB in-built storage and 1GB RAM. With connectivity features such as Wi-Fi b/g/n, Android webkit browser, 2.0 HS USB, NFC and GPS, it justifies to be a complete phablet. You can enjoy calling on this device through single micro-SIM only.

It’s good that this phabletcomes with a stylus which works smoothly but at the same time it is also quite annoying for any user to not find a place to insert the stylus back into the device. It becomes a big deal to always carry the stylus separately and look out for it every time you want to note something.

LGOptimusVuP895Features:
To retain its position among the high-class consumers, LG has added some promising features.Optimus Vu comes with face tracking and geo-tagging. It enables full HD videos of 1920×1080 pixels. With shot modes like time machine camera, HDR, panorama, continuous shot and beauty shot port, you can use Vu as your digital camera too.

Other important features include MHL TV-out, Modem function and LG PC Sync 5 application. With Group SMS, Instant Messaging, Document Viewer and Social Networking options, you can carry out your official tasks and remain socially connected as well.

Users can also enjoy Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Google Mail, AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail and LG Email in this handset. With Dolby sound technology and 3.5mm audio jack, you can enjoy non-stop music on this handset.

FinalVerdict

Optimus Vu P895 is a decent hybrid ofsmartphone and tablet from LG. But because of its unusual ergonomics and the late entry it had in the Indian market, it’s hard for us to recommend you this phablet. With competition like Galaxy SIII available at almost the same price range, Optimus Vu P895 is unfortunately wrongly priced at Rs. 30,000 (approx.). A wrong timing, awkward design and over pricing would restrict people to choose this phablet even after great performance which it offers.
