Xolo Q700 with quad-core processor, Android 4.2 and unique multi-profiles launched for Rs. 9,999



Xolo has launched its Q700 smartphone in India for Rs. 9,999. We had reported a week back that Xolo is planning to launch this smartphone, and true to the word, this smartphone is now official.

Q700 is also the first smartphone from Xolo to offer Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Internally the Xolo Q700 will pack in 1.2GHz quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. The smartphone also offers 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB.

Xolo Q700 comes with a 4.5-inch qHD IPS display. Much like the other smartphones in the Q series, Q700 also deploys the One Glass Solution (OGS) technology. It comes with 2400mAh battery, which as per company claims gives 17 hours of talk time and 380 hours of standby time on 2G and 16 hours of talk time and 350 hours of standby time on 3G.

For camera, there is a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity options. This smartphone will not come in traditional colours such as Black, White or Silver but will be available only in Brown and Blue colour.


As per the company, Xolo Q700 is world's first multi-profile Android smartphone. This smartphone comes with Xolo switch app, through which you can create separate profiles for work and personal life. You can create up to four personal profiles including Kids Mode with different lock screen, applications and wallpapers. The Xolo Switch allows users to change profiles with just a simple flick.

The company has also added Xolo Secure and Xolo Power apps on this smartphone. The Xolo Secure app is offers Remote Lock and Wipe Phone Data functionality as well as a cloud backup for messages and call logs. Find my phone functionality is offered as well. Xolo Power aims to optimise the battery life with features like Night mode to reduce power consumption during inactive hours and the ability to "detect and kill background apps by a single click."

Transparent smartphones coming in 2013: Polytron

Think transparent smartphones are futuristic? Not really. For, if Taiwan-based Polytron has its way, we will soon be holding a transparent smartphone. Polytron, which works on display technologies, has unveiled a smartphone prototype with a transparent body. A company exec has also claimed that users will see the arrival of transparent glass phone by the end of this year.  The company's prototype is manufactured using glass that is light in weight and features a transparent screen and body. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus surfaces online for Rs. 22,900

Samsung seems to gearing up to launch Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in India. The smartphone is already listed on Infibeam.com for Rs. 22,900. The website is also claiming to ship the device within seven business days. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800) Super AMOLED Plus display as seen in the earlier Galaxy S II.
