Acer’s Iconia B1 tablet coming to India end of January for Rs 7,999

Acer could launch its rumored budget Android tablet, the Iconia B1, in India as early as the end of January for Rs 7,999. The rumor comes from NDTV, whose sources could not confirm the specifications of the tablet but mentioned it would run on Android Jelly Bean. The Iconia B1 is rumored to be a budget tablet, much on the lines of Asus’s Nexus 7 but aimed at emerging markets including India. The Nexus 7had a disappointing launch in India with a price tag of approximately Rs 20,000 while it retailed in the US for $199.

The Iconia B1 is speculated to feature a 7-inch 1024×600 pixel display and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. We can probably hold on to our proverbial salt pellets for a week considering the tablet is expected to be announced at next week’s CES. Asus is also expected to announce a low-cost Windows 8 tablet at the show.

Think transparent smartphones are futuristic? Not really. For, if Taiwan-based Polytron has its way, we will soon be holding a transparent smartphone. Polytron, which works on display technologies, has unveiled a smartphone prototype with a transparent body. A company exec has also claimed that users will see the arrival of transparent glass phone by the end of this year.  The company's prototype is manufactured using glass that is light in weight and features a transparent screen and body. Samsung seems to gearing up to launch Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in India. The smartphone is already listed on Infibeam.com for Rs. 22,900. The website is also claiming to ship the device within seven business days. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800) Super AMOLED Plus display as seen in the earlier Galaxy S II.
