Think transparent smartphones are futuristic? Not really. For, if Taiwan-based Polytron has its way, we will soon be holding a transparent smartphone. Polytron, which works on display technologies, has unveiled a smartphone prototype with a transparent body. A company exec has also claimed that users will see the arrival of transparent glass phone by the end of this year.
The company's prototype is manufactured using glass that is light in weight and features a transparent screen and body. The prototype was not functioning and hardware like battery, camera and microSD card could be seen by the naked eye.
Polytron has said that manufacturers can build smartphones with this specially designed glass, which has its patented electrical wiring which is nearly invisible. This wiring gives the see-through effect to the phone's body.
Sam Yu, general manager of the company, reportedly said that the display technology is mature and various phone manufacturers are looking at using it. He did not, however, say much a phone with a transparent body cost.
Samsung recently unveiled Youm, a curved display that is expected to be included in its upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S IV. Nokia was also in the news as it has been awarded a $1.35 billion grant to work on graphene, which is harder than diamond and steel and can be used to make smash-proof phones.
It looks promising, but how will you see the display if it's hard to see while indoors? Current displays are hard enough to see outdoors for many phones.http://www.nwoow.com/techonology/worlds-first-polytron-technologies-transparent-smartphone-35361/
