LG announces Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 ahead of MWC

LG has announced two new smartphones in its F-Series - Optimus F7 and Optimus F5. The Korean smartphone maker had been teasing about the launch of a new series through teaser videos andFacebook posts. However, it was expected that this series will see the light of day at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013. Clearly the company could not wait a week more.

Both LG Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 are 4G LTE smartphones that run on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).

LG Optimus F5 features a 4.3-inch IPS display with a pixel density of 256ppi. It runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of internal storage and 2,150mAh battery. For camera, there is a 5-megapixel rear shooter and 1.3-megapixel one on the front.

Optimus F7 on the other hand offers a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display and a pixel density of 312ppi. It is powered by 1.5GHz dual-Core processor with 2GB of RAM. Internal storage available on this smartphone is 8GB, which can be expanded by up to 32GB through a microSD card.

There is an 8-megapixel front shooter while the front one is 1.3-megapixel. LG Optimus F7 packs in 2,540mAh battery.

Both LG Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 include advanced UX features such as the upgraded QSlide and Live Zooming, previously only available on LG's premium devices.

The Korean smartphone maker has so far not announced the pricing for these smartphones. However, it has indicated that the worldwide rollout of the Optimus F5 will begin in the second quarter in Europe, and will be followed by Optimus F7 in selected markets.

Twitter user @evleaks had posted purported picture of these smartphones on Wednesday morning, hours before these smartphones were unveiled.

Transparent smartphones coming in 2013: Polytron

Think transparent smartphones are futuristic? Not really. For, if Taiwan-based Polytron has its way, we will soon be holding a transparent smartphone. Polytron, which works on display technologies, has unveiled a smartphone prototype with a transparent body. A company exec has also claimed that users will see the arrival of transparent glass phone by the end of this year.  The company's prototype is manufactured using glass that is light in weight and features a transparent screen and body. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus surfaces online for Rs. 22,900

Samsung seems to gearing up to launch Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in India. The smartphone is already listed on Infibeam.com for Rs. 22,900.
