Karbonn Smart A111 with 5.0-inch display, Android 4.0 spotted online for Rs. 10,290

It's raining phablets. Non-stop. The latest in the line is Smart A111 from Karbonn. Not officially unveiled yet, but the phablet is now available online for Rs. 10,290.

Karbonn Smart A111 comes with a 5.0-inch display and, according to the product listing over at retailer Flipkart, is powered by a 1.2GHz Scorpion dual-core processor. It comes with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage, expandable by another 32GB via microSD card.

In typical budget phablet fashion, Karbonn Smart A111 is a dual-SIM phone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and Micro-USB. Smart A111 comes with a 5.0-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash with burst mode and face detection. A front-camera is included as well. It is powered by a 2,100mAh battery.

Karbonn Smart A111 will compete with the likes of Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2 (Review | Pics) that offers pretty much identical specs at almost exactly the same price point.

Karbonn itself is no stranger to the territory of large screen phones. In December, the company hadlaunched Karbonn A30 with a huge 5.9-inch capacitive touch display with 480x800 pixels resolution running on Android 4.0. Powering the phone is a 1GHz dual-core processor. It was priced at Rs. 12,990 upon launch.

Earlier, the company had launched the Karbonn Smart A9+ and the Smart A21 smartphones priced at Rs. 9,990 and Rs. 11,990 respectively. The Karbonn Smart A9+ sports a 4-inch IPS display while the A21 comes with a 4.5-inch display. Both have a 480x800 pixel resolution. They run on Android 4.0 and feature 5-megapixel autofocus rear cameras with LED flash and 1.3-megapixel front cameras.

More recently, the company had launched the S1 Titanium that sports a 4.5-inch qHD (960×540) multi-touch capacitive touch display and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It comes with a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera. Internally, the smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 4GB of internal storage expandable upto 32GB via microSD.

Transparent smartphones coming in 2013: Polytron

Think transparent smartphones are futuristic? Not really. For, if Taiwan-based Polytron has its way, we will soon be holding a transparent smartphone. Polytron, which works on display technologies, has unveiled a smartphone prototype with a transparent body. A company exec has also claimed that users will see the arrival of transparent glass phone by the end of this year.  The company's prototype is manufactured using glass that is light in weight and features a transparent screen and body. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus surfaces online for Rs. 22,900

Samsung seems to gearing up to launch Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in India. The smartphone is already listed on Infibeam.com for Rs. 22,900. The website is also claiming to ship the device within seven business days. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800) Super AMOLED Plus display as seen in the earlier Galaxy S II.
