Spice Stellar Buddy Mi-315 available online for Rs. 3,490


After flooding the sub Rs.10,000 market, the Indian handset makers now seem to keenly eyeing the under Rs. 5,000 category as well. S Mobility is all set to launch another contender in this category with its Spice Stellar Buddy Mi-315.

This handset is currently listed on online retail sites like Flipkart and Saholic for Rs. 3,492 and Rs. 3,490 respectively. Spice Stellar Buddy Mi-315 is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone that is powered by a 1GHz processor along with 256 MB of RAM. It sports a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen and runs on the dated Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system. This handset also comes with 512MB of internal storage of which 170MB is usable and one has an option to increase the memory via microSD to up to 16GB.

There is a 3.2-megapixel camera rear camera on-board. Connectivity options include, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS. Also apps such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Gmail, GMS, SpiceGang, WhatsApp, Vault, TOI, Stringo, et al come pre-installed with this smartphone. Spice Stellar Buddy Mi-315 comes with 1400 mAh battery.

Though, there is no official word from the company on when this smartphone will be officially launched, but in our estimate it should not be long.

This smartphone is expected to compete head on with Karbonn A1+, Micromax A25, Lava Iris N320 and Intex Aqua 3.2. All these smartphones are dual-SIM smartphones that run on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and are powered by1GHz processor with 256MB of RAM.

Karbonn A1+ has a slightly larger 3.5-inch screen. The other major difference is that the Karbonn smartphone supports external memory to up to 32GB and is currently available at a best buy price of Rs. 4,290.

The Micromax A25 is another contender, which is currently available for a street price of Rs. 3,550. It has 2.8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen and supports microSD card up to 32GB. Also the rear camera on-board is just 1.3-megapixel.

The Lava Iris N320 has a 3.2-inch screen and has a 2-megapixel camera. At Rs. 3,399 this smartphone is most affordable of the lot. Lava Iris N320 also supports external memory to up to 32GB.

Intex Aqua 3.2 also has a 3.2-inch touchscreen, supports memory cards to up to 32GB and has a 2-megapixel rear shooter. It is currently retailing for Rs. 3,690.

Transparent smartphones coming in 2013: Polytron

Samsung Galaxy S II Plus surfaces online for Rs. 22,900

Samsung seems to gearing up to launch Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in India. The smartphone is already listed on Infibeam.com for Rs. 22,900. The website is also claiming to ship the device within seven business days. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800) Super AMOLED Plus display as seen in the earlier Galaxy S II.
