And Sony felt that why should it be left alone and has gone ahead and coated its Sony Xperia P smartphone in 24-carat gold.

Yes you read it right! Sony Mobiles seem to going the shimmering Apple lane, or the walking the Vertu path, as it unveils its first attempt at a Gold-handset, limited edition gold Xperia P. For the uninitiated, the Xperia P is a mid-range handset with a 4-inch display, Android OS and dual-core 1GHz processor, with the original sporting a unibody design and aluminium back cover. The shimmering makeover, gives 15 smartphones a 24 carat body job. While pricing details haven’t been floated yet, but if If you are thinking if you could get your hands on over one of the 15 gold-plated Xperia P, then you are in some luck. Sony has planned to a treasure hunt over its global Facebook page and so you could win one for yourself.

We are wondering as to why did Sony choose to go ahead with the mid-speced Xperia P smartphone when it has the high-end, James Bond-branded Xperia T smartphone in the house.

A company exec has also claimed that users will see the arrival of transparent glass phone by the end of this year. The company's prototype is manufactured using glass that is light in weight and features a transparent screen and body. The prototype was not functioning and hardware like battery, camera and microSD card could be seen by the naked eye. Polytron has said that manufacturers can build smartphones with this specially designed glass, which has its patented electrical wiring which is nearly invisible. Samsung seems to gearing up to launch Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in India. The smartphone is already listed on Infibeam.com for Rs. 22,900. The website is also claiming to ship the device within seven business days. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800) Super AMOLED Plus display as seen in the earlier Galaxy S II.
