Samsung launches Ativ, Ativ Pro tablet-PC hybrid devices


With the launch of Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system in June, several manufacturers unwrapped tablets and computers based on the latest incarnation of the platform during the IFA 2012 expo in Berlin in August. Even the South Korean giant sizzled the spectators over there by introducing a slew of products enthrusted with the Microsoft’s latest OS.

Now, Samsung has brought the same Windows 8 based tablet-laptop hybrids in India today with the launch of Samsung Ativ Smart PC and Ativ Smart PC Pro. Priced at Rs 53,990 and Rs 75,490, both hybrid devices are powered by Intel processors and boast impressive specs.

Lets have a sneak peak at the key specifications of both Windows 8 based Ativ Smart PCs.
Dimensions & Weight: Ativ Smart PC measures 304.0 x 189.4 x 9.9 mm/19.9 mm (without/with keyboard) and weighs in at 750 grams/1.48 kg (without/with keyboard). On the other hand, Ativ Smart PC Pro boasts a dimension of 304.0 x 189.4 x 11.89 mm/21.8.9 mm (without/with keyboard) and weighs around 884 grams/1.6 kg (without/with keyboard).

Display: Ativ Smart PC packs a 11.6 inch PLS touchscreen display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, whereas, Ativ Smart PC Pro houses a 11.6 inch full HD PLS touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Processor: In this segment, Ativ Smart PC is equipped with an Intel Atom Z2760 processor and Ativ Smart PC Pro is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor.

Operating System: Both the tablets are based on Windows 8 operating system.

Camera: Ativ Smart PC sports an 8MP rear camera with flash and 2MP front camera for video calling, on the other hand, Ativ Smart PC Pro has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front facing camera.

Storage: Ativ Smart PC comes with 2GB RAM and 128GB eMMC memory and Ativ Smart PC Pro has 4GB RAM and 256GB SSD.

Connectivity: Ativ Smart PC and Ativ Smart PC Pro come packed with connectivity features including Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and 3G.

Ports: Both the tablets have necessary ports including a micro-HDMI port, a USB 3.0 port, a microSD card reader, a headphone jack and Samsung’s proprietary dock port.

Battery: Ativ Smart PC comes loaded with a 2-cell battery offering 13.5 hours backup, whereas, Ativ Smart PC Pro is powered by a 4-cell battery delivering 8 hours backup.

ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro are equipped with the renowned S Pen, delivering real writing and drawing experiences for maximum productivity, S Camera, which fully exploits the performance of the integrated front and rear camera and S Player that ensures seamless playback of images and videos in any format.

Furthe, the Windows 8 based devices are enhanced with Samsung’s own unique services and content including Samsung Family Story and ChatON that offer social communication among users.

Speaking about the pricing, Samsung has priced Ativ Smart PC tablet at Rs 53,990 and Ativ Smart PC Pro at Rs 75,490.
