Panasonic launches P51 smartphone with quad-core processor and stylus for Rs. 26,900



Panasonic has launched a new Android smartphone, the Panasonic P51, in the Indian market at a price point of Rs. 26,900. The phone is the first in a series of phones that Panasonic will be launching in the coming months.

Panasonic P51 features a unibody design and comes with a 5-inch IPS display that sports a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The screen of the phone is made of Asahi Dragon Trail Glass and has an Oleophobic coating to prevent smudges.

The dual-SIM phone runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of the operating system and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera which is capable of recording 720p video. The Panasonic P51 has 1GB of RAM and 4GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It has a 2500mAh battery and comes with a stylus and a magnetic flip cover.

The phone comes preloaded with apps such as Kingsoft Office, Cam Scanner, Cam Card reader and WeChat, among others.

Speaking on the launch, Daizo Ito, President, Panasonic India said, "Panasonic has a great legacy of being the pioneers of innovation in every segment. Continuing with our legacy, we are now launching our innovative smartphone which will redefine the Indian smartphone consumer experience. India has always been one of the alpha markets in the region and I take great pride in introducing our smartphone to India. We are confident that our product will provide the Indian consumer a great multimedia experience and the best 'value for money' proposition."

Panasonic has also collaborated with Jaina Marketing as the Strategic Partner for Marketing, Distribution and Customer Suport' for the smartphone series.

The phone will be available in retail stores across India starting next week. According to Panasonic it will launch a series of smart phones across the price range of Rs.6,990 and Rs.35,000.
